Went to Kayra Pide many nights on holiday. I'd say it was a little rougher around the edges than Nefis Pide but the food is great and very authentic, my dining companion had brains in a soup (I'm vegetarian so I though this was gross) whilst I had lentil soup with all the trimmings onions, rocket, flat bread, butter, cheese, tomatoes, Ayran, water & Turkish Cay. Wow heart attack city when they brought a frying pan of melted butter and poured it over our soup!!!

I'm certainly not a veggie and I'll eat pretty much anything that flies, swims or has looked over a fence, but brains? No! Not happening!

I have to laugh at some of the thinking behind what is a vegetarian. I went to a restaurant one night and said what do you have for someone who does not eat meat, he said we have fish, I said no I don't eat anything that has eyes and a mouth, the waiter came straight back at me with "I can have them cut it's head off" don't you just love them

Brilliant! And I bet he had a straight face when he said it.

Jan, my husband loves the brain soup at Kayra - no way would I even try it though! Yuck! Every time he orders it, even the waiters look at him as if to say "are you sure?"
